George Towers believes that wealth goes far beyond the amount of dollars and cents one has in any account; finances are simply one component of our overall wealth as human beings. He recognizes that wealth is a powerful tool that we can use to not only improve our own lives, but the lives of others, to leave the world a better place than we found it. It is this philosophy that informed his decision to move into financial planning to use his degree from the University of Denver in finance and economics, after spending several years in ministry. George sees both professions as similar in some ways: in both cases he is working in the “people business,” helping others get from point A to point B to help them succeed, putting the person front and center, and providing encouragement. His passion for doing good in the community and the world led him to working with UBS.
As a Wealth Planning Associate, George has the responsibility to work with financial advisors across the market in developing comprehensive financial plans for their clients. He participates in client discovery conversations, helps craft financial plans focusing on helping clients achieve their goals, and supports branch leadership team members with detailed key business initiatives and projects. In addition, George is interested in impact investing and sustainability for the long term, using resources as a tool to do good while doing well.
George is not the only member of his family who feels it’s important to leave the world a better place. His wife Christie is a cancer researcher who was recruited to the Salk Institute in La Jolla to start her own research lab. George and Christie have two young sons, Noah and Levi. In his spare time, George loves spending time with his family at the beach, traveling, hiking and playing sports. If you get the chance, ask him about his family’s experience on the television game show, Family Feud!
